APPLE dulcimer This dulcimer started as a 4 ft x 2 ft trunk of an apple tree. I started by trying to split this with an ax and I found that this wood does not have a straight grain like oak does and I almost did not get enough wood to make this , it was scary close. the width of this is 2 1\2 inches where normal is 1 inch to 2 inches the strings are heavier than normal , normal is 11 , 14 , 20 and these are 16 ,24, 36 it is a baritone tuned to E,A,E where normal is D,A,D. OR D,A,A and it sounds great
